Why does the adhesive overlap on the plate?

Sometimes the adhesive can become deformed and/or stretched if too much heat is applied. When applying heat to the plate, make sure you do not overheat the plate. If there is overlapping adhesive, use a cutter or similar to trim the excess material, trying to follow the contour of the adhesive.

It can be difficult to place adhesives on a curved plate. In these cases, first heat up the adhesive using a hairdryer in order to make the adhesive more flexible. You can also apply heat to different areas as the adhesive is placed on the plate.

How can I remove old adhesives?

It is important to remove the adhesives slowly, to avoid leaving bits of adhesive on the plate. Peel the adhesive progressively and stop in areas where the adhesive gets stuck, and start peeling the adhesive from another area, leaving the most difficult sections to the end. Once the easy parts are peeled off, apply heat using a hairdryer on those difficult areas and peel them off slowly.
If there is any glue left on the plate, try removing it by applying some pressure with a bit of adhesive and peeling it off quickly. This should pull off the remaining bits of glue.

There are many cleaning products on the market, but the majority can cause damage to plastic and ABS. It is important to check or ask what surfaces they can be used on. These types of cleaner dissolve adhesive into a gel and can be easily wiped off.
To wipe off the excess adhesive without damaging the plates, use a cloth made of cotton or any other non-scratch material, preferably of a neutral or light colour (white). Place the cloth on the area previously sprayed with the cleaner, and wipe off the adhesive until completely removed.
After wiping off the adhesive, wipe it with another piece of cloth with alcohol to wipe off the cleaner, as it could damage the adhesive.

What products can be used to clean the plates once the adhesives are in place?

The adhesives are made of PVC, and are protected against soap and water. However, if you are using other cleaning products, make sure that they do not harm PVC derivative plastics.
